Are there No Fly Zones built into the Phantom 4?

Unknown as of yet.. Don’t think so..

Can ESC braking be turned off?

No you cannot adjust or deactivate ESC Braking. Its a required function of the Phantom 4 to allow it to rapidly adjust motor speeds for quicker response and more stable flight.

You can however tone down how the Phantom 4 responds when the sticks are centred ( the jerking it does when centring the sticks )..

Can I connect using HDMI form the Phantom 4 controller?

At point of purchase now, NO, you cannot connect via HDMI from the controller. Its been confirmed that the current Phantom 3 HDMI board WILL work with the Phantom 4 after a firmware update. DJI have not listed one available to purchase for the Phantom 4 and when the firmware is out, it is likely to just be the Phantom 3 version anyway. Keep an eye out here for a post on this subject.

Can I fly on top of Everest?

Not right on the top. The maximum height a Phantom 4 can fly at is 6000m above sea level. You could fly it at the South Base Camp ( 5364m ) or at the North Base camp ( 5150m ) but at this altitude the flight time is going to be significantly reduced. You would still have upwards of 3500m to the summit.

Can I shut down the motors in flight in case of an emergency?

Yes, in an emergency you can shut down the motors mid flight. To do this move the left stick down and to the right at the same time as holding the RTH button. This new method was added to firmware version 1.0.0288. If you have an older version firmware then to achieve the mid air shutdown, hold BOTH sticks down and to the middle ( same as starting the motors ).

Can I turn off the downward facing sensors ( VPS )?

Yes, you can turn it off in the Latest DJI Go App

Can the Phantom 4 lens barrel be removed?

Yeah, the lens barrel can be unscrewed. When removing it make sure you have a good grip but don’t squeeze it too hard as this will make it harder to unscrew. The same filters available for the Phantom 3 fit the Phantom 4. DJI are likely to have ones that compliment the look of the P4 available soo too..

Can the Phantom 4 use the Phantom 3 Remote Controller?

The GL300C revision of the Phantom 3 controller WILL work with the Phantom 4. There are some visual differences though. The “Playback” button on the P3 variant of the GL300C controller is not a “Pause” button on the Phantom 4 RC. The P.A.F switch on the Phantom 3 GL300C is also different on the Phantom RC where its a P.S.A ( S being the Sports Mode ).

Can the sticks of the Phantom 4 be customized to use the flight mode I want?

Yes. By default the sticks are set to mode 2. In this mode, the throttle is present on the left hand side while the right hand stick controls the movement of the quadcopter. While changing to mode 1 would reverse the function of the sticks.

Can we add our own GoPro camera to the Phantom 4?

No you cannot mount a GoPro on a Phantom 4. Also to be honest you would not want to either. The P4 camera is an amazing bit of kit.

This is unknown. It was not possible with the Phantom 3 so might not be with this one too.

Can you charge the Intelligent Flight Battery AND the remote controller at the same time?

Yes.. You can

No, the Phantom 4 Professional and Advanced comes with a remote controller. Replacements will be available soon from the DJI Store.

Do the motors stop if the Phantom 4 goes upside down?

Yes the motors will stop of the sensors detect the Phantom 4 is upside down. The motors do NOT stop if you crash and jam then on something ( unless its upside down ). So in the event of a crash its best to CSC ( Combination Stick Command ) as soon as you have crashed to avoid damage to the motors ( beyond the initial crash ).

Do the propellers show in the video?

Going at full speed in Sports mode is very likely to show the props in the video. But during normal flight, the Phantom is much better in this scenario than the Phantom 3 due to its higher motors keeping the props further away from the camera.

Does Obstacle Sensing System work in all modes?

How good is Lightbridge at penetrating objects like trees and walls?

Like any 2.4Ghz device, the Phantom 3 WILL have degraded signal and possible signal loss when flying in trees or going behind objects. best rule of thumb is, if you cannot see the Phantom 3 there is a possibility of losing signal, or another way, if you can see the phantom 4 you *should* be fine.

People ( me included ) have flown through trees, under bridges and even through tunnels and have had no issues if you position yourself in a location that allows you to see the Phantom  4 at all times. On the rare occasions you need to fly behind an object like a tower or lighthouse make sure you have Return To Home set and the altitude is set ABOVE the tallest obstacle you are flying near. Also make sure there is nothing above the Phantom. If you do this the chances of having happy days is high, fall foul of it then the likelihood you post a thread in the DJI Forum saying you crashed is higher.

Why does the Phantom 4 have a magnesium core?

The revolutionary magnesium core embedded into the aircraft greatly increases rigidity, minimizing unwanted vibrations. This ensures the precision and performance of the inertial measurement unit (IMU).The weight of the aircraft is also reduced through this magnesium core.

Why doesn’t the Phantom 4 turn off immediately after I shut down the battery?

This is normal. It takes a few seconds for all the flight control systems to shut themselves down after you have told the battery to turn off. The delay also allows for the P4 to finish saving the video to the MicroSD card to avoid corruption.

Why is the field of view smaller when filming at 120 fps?

This is because the amount of data being saved to disk is far too much for the camera/SoC to handle so the FoV is reduced. For the rare times you will ever need to use 120fps I think its acceptable.
